AGAIN

Imagining
Creating
Shaping
Believing
Raving
Fuming
Loving
Hating
Affirming
Speculating
Questioning,
Writing another poem
Again.

INCONSISTENCY

I am a loner
Keep to myself
People are fine…at a distance
I’m not looking for fame
Recognition
Maybe set a good example
Privacy is my wealth,
So why am I sharing this
With you?

LIVED

I don’t know much.
Left my Spanish speaking country
To live in San Francisco when I was one.
Lived there four years before departing en route to Japan,
Another Four years abroad.
Hard to master, let alone speak 3 different languages in such short Time.
Traveled back to my native Peru.
Was having a hard time in school.
Left to Rome,
Lived
Three and a half years before heading to Panama.
Grammar was a becoming a huge problem,
Too many languages, not enough time to learn them properly.
Now back to Peru,
Had to bribe my way to graduate from High School.
Took a year off,
Decided to attend School of Visual Arts in New York.
Lived four years in the “Big Apple”, got married, went back to Peru, Worked and lived in Lima eight years before leaving to Miami.
I’ve been living in the Sunshine State for the past seventeen years with my wife and three kids.
Lived in too many places,
Repeated the word “Lived” too many times,
Because I don’t know much.

FIRST IN THE LINE

We are given life
Yet complain
Nothing is enough
So we blame
Everything is wrong
What a shame
Always ask for more
That’s the name of the game.

MANGO MAMA

Had dinner last night with a
Local Restaurant critic. Very
Cool to talk with a foodie like
Myself. We covered many topics and I asked questions like what would she eat every day on a deserted Island that provided no food. “Creamed spinach” she answered while I confessed my preference for Ceviche Mixto .
We ate at Sra. Martinez, a famous Chef’s cutting edge
Tapas restaurant in Miami. My food celebrity friend had
Heirloom Tomatoes with Murcia al Vino capeberries, pedro Ximenez, Cerignola olives and
Poached egg with asparagus. We both shared Pimientas de Padron, Spanish shisito peppers, sea salt.
I went cholesterol all the way sampling
Roasted Bone marrow grape tomatoes, sherry vinegar, tomato marmalade and a superb fresh Sea Urchin
Sandwich a la plancha, soy-ginger butter.
Courtesy of the Chef we tried Galbi Pinchos
Korean style marinade, Kohlrabi slaw and an Expresso with coffee from India before calling it a night.
On my way home passed by McDonald’s…
…I like that too.

MY WRITE EYE

My eyes don’t care about
Shutter speed
ISO
ASA
Photoshop
Double exposure
Remotes or any of the
Latest nerdy gadgets in the market,
My twin bulbs are old school.
They better see the world in black and white
Trying to adjust shooting digital pictures
Missing days of texture and grain.
Both work as a team
Take pictures based on
Feeling
Gut reaction
Keeping the style raw
Using their favorite tool… luck,
Determined to capture eternity

HURLY-BURLY

Turbulence
I shake
Tempestuous sentiment
Heart’s awake
You evade me
Walk out on
I ache
Indifferent gaze
My soul’s at stake.

GPS

Flealess world
Blue sealess sea
Invisible force
Deep awaken me.
Scribble
Write
Type
Not anything
Again and
Again,
Setting me free.
Where it goes
Who’s the phantom?
Justice is getting a makeover
Let it be.

9 TO HELL

I always want to quit my job
No matter how much I’m making, the rank
Or how prestigious the company.
It’s a feeling I get many times only hours into
A new situation.
I love to work, Can’t see myself ever not
Doing so, but it’s the people I can do without…
…Pompous arrogant Jerks, suits, know it all’s with bad taste
Telling me how and what to do.
I’m off to roast some beets…alone.
