I AM
A minimalist.
MY WRITE EYE
ONE MORE BUK
We all want to be Bukowski,
Write like him
Type like him
Read like him
Drink like him
Smoke like him
Work like him
Sleep like him
Screw like him
Swear like him
Dress like him
Smell like him
Fight like him
Walk like him
Drive like him
Bet like him
Eat like him
Think like him
Talk like him
Live like him
Rich like him
But we’re not.
SLEEPWRITING
Had a great dream last night
Visually rich and fulfilling
Today lost in oblivion.
If I could be as disciplined as
Ginsberg and Burroughs to have
Pad and pen on my night table ready
To jump into action in case I wake up at night
To pen down my dream…Instead the one thing
I did not loose was my sleep.

LEAVING IN STYLE
Packing
Leaving
Prose behind
Scheduled arrival
Gate and time,
Composing my poems
With rhythm
And rhyme.
Abhor or adore
Musical style,
To some it comes easy
Other’s awhile.
Organic food
A matter of taste,
Like gifted talent
A pity to waste.
Considered tacky
Modernist denial
Romantic’s inspiration
Luring women for miles.
Four seasons dress the weather
Plenty to choose,
What to wear
How to use.
Takes minimal luggage
Deconstructing my write
Or write it in rhyme
All day and all night.

AND YOUR NAME IS…?
Snobbery,
Insecure Desease
Lame less hearts
Young
Old
Farts.
Mindless
Landlord
Travelers of void
Clutch shallow suitcase
Replete with empty
Eternity.
Progressive
Degrading insulation
Dripping liquid egos,
Blind conquistadors.
Powerful stupidity
Conquer weak souls,
Factory made Lucifer molds
Sun bathe in dark pit holes.

WWJD
As you walk thru life
Your friend suddenly
Stabs you
Someone else
Punches you
Your girlfriend/wife
Is unfaithful
You’re robbed
Bad mouthed
Harassed
Envied
Yelled
Cursed
Undeservedly fired
Threatened
Deceived
Ridiculed
Tortured
Your brother
Steals from you
And as it gets worse
And your reaction
Could become
A chain reaction
Best stop and think…
…What would Jesus do?

THAT’S HOW IT IS
I think I’m a poet
Don’t care if you do
Won’t write about Robins
Fragile petal flowers
Undercover moons.
I think
Look up
Write it down
In my room.
What it means
I don’t know,
Ideas
Come and go.
Eventually
Out of the blue
This poem
Might be for you.
This is true
That’s my way
Sometimes
I Have nothing to say
But If I’m lucky
And you’re in town
You’ll be reading
This today.
